4 Ways to Stay Fit During the Holidays
It’s the holiday season, so bring on the sweaters, the peppermint mocha lattes and the cookie swaps! But don’t cross exercise off your to-do list and reach for the Spanx just yet, we’ve got some tips and tricks to help you look and feel your best all season long.
Give me 20. According to the Los Angeles Times, if you can fit in 20 minutes of circuit training, three to four times each week, that will hold you over until January when you have more time and energy to tackle your fitness goals. The key is compressing your workouts into short, but intense sessions to get your heart rate up and build strength.
Take it with you. It’s the most traveled time of the year. And if you’re stuck in car traffic or in long lines at the airport, working out is never going to sound nearly as good as taking a nap—but don’t give in. Once you reach your destination, keep your energy up with some bodyweight strength training. Lunges, pushups, planks, sit-ups and squats can all be done at your in-law’s house, grandma’s house or even in between wrapping presents.
Make a lunch date. Step away from your favorite online shopping site and step into the gym during your lunch break.
